South Africa is a melting pot of different cultures that combine the old with the new. Ancient skills go hand in hand with modern technology.
The country’s history is dramatic and goes back many hundreds of years. Ever since the Dutch set foot on the shores, the country has been torn by conflict. Many have tried to lay claim to this Southern tip of Africa with all its natural heritage and beauty. It is only since the first democratic election in 1994 that the country has been united in wanting to create a South Africa for everyone where everyone is equal.
To birth democracy in such a short time without bloodshed is a historic milestone. The honour for this achievement must surely go to the vision of an exceptional Afrikaner F.W. de Klerk and the previous President and “father” of the nation, Nelson Mandela both winners of the Nobel Peace Prize for what they did together.
