Garden Route
The Garden Route is the perfect combination with a trip to Cape Town and the wine district. We suggest a route through the wine district and up into the Klein Karoo, along the famous Route 62. There are numerous interesting stops along the way, including wine farms, Cango Caves (an exciting guided tour through these ancient caves) and ostrich farms. We then recommend that you continue along the coastline and stay in either Knysna or Plettenberg Bay, which both lie at the heart of the Garden Route.
The numerous highlights along the Garden Route are amongst others, the fantastic golf courses, the Tsitsikamma Forest with its wonderful walking trails, Knysna Lagoon cruises, kayaking and pure relaxation on one of Plettenberg Bay’s numerous sandy beaches. An alternative route back to Cape Town is via Swellendam. One could visit the southern most point in Africa, Cape Agulhas, and thereafter go shark diving in the quaint coastal village of Gansbaai. It is especially worth while to make a stop in the charming sea-side village of Hermanus during the whale season between Aug-Nov, where one is able to see the whales “up close and personal”!
